Large Beer Garden & Outside Bar
The Grade II listed building was designed by Frederick Charles Palmer (architect to the National Provincial Bank between 1920 and 1932) and built in 1927 as the home of NatWest & Kentish Bank. Now this beautiful building has been lovingly transformed into Maidstone town centre's first independent freehouse to open for more than two decades. With sympathetic renovation, restoration & refurbishment we have returned it to its former grandeur, complete with its oak columns & panelling, ornate cornice and best of all, its stunning huge glass ceiling dome. The Brenchley offers a vast range of popular beers, wines, spirits, seasonal & guest real ales, along with an affordable food menu, speedy service and traditional pub opening times… and now a large south-facing beer garden, sun terrace & outside bar. The name Brenchley has a long standing history in Maidstone, including the formation of the Kentish Bank, Maidstone Breweries, building of Maidstone Alms Houses, Maidstone mayors, benefactor to West Kent General Hospital and the famous 19th century explorer, naturalist and author, Julius Lucius Brenchley.
